"In the 1960s, Walt Disney conceived a magnificent ski-resort and recreation area he hoped to build at Mineral King in the mountains of Northern California. Though this 1969 sketch and many others were cerated to show how the project would blend seamlessly into the natural environment, a series of legal tangles prevented the project from ever being built."

"Walt Disney sparked his Imagineers to sketch ideas for a Matterhorn Mountain attraction at Disneyland, which opened in 1959. Twenty-five years later, designer Claude Coates created this sketch of the Matterhorn for a proposed Switzerland pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot."

"The Typhoon Lagoon concept team members sketched potential typhoon-inspired story themes. Among them were a lost temple uncovered, a water-logged logging camp and a beached cruise ship. Randy Bright, then creative executive, was immediately drawn to this sketch by Chris Runco. The park would be filled with objects from faraway places that had been blown in by a freak storm. Guests who look closely at "Miss Tilly“‘s stern sitting high atop the mountain may be surprised to discover that her home port is ‘Safen Sound Fla.’."

"Walt Disney asked Herbert Ryman to draw up some sketches that would capture the romance of New Orleans. The Royal Court, seen here, would become central focus of New Orleans Square when it opened at Disneyland in 1966. The stairway in the centre of the sketch leads to a suite of rooms that would have been a private apartment for Walt Disney. (Walt passed away before the apartment was ever used.) Today, the rooms are part of The Disneyland Gallery.”
